Hearth hook (sorakagi)

A medium-sized hook that was usually suspended from the ceiling and hung over the "irori" or sunken hearth in the main or family room of old Japanese houses.
Made of solid keyaki wood with a fairly well developed patina.
Hokuriku Region, early to mid-Meiji Era.
L 33 x H 35.5 x D 18 cm
