Ranma (transom panel)

One of a pair of unusually large panels, each having a carved design of a pair of cranes under an aging and wind-bent pine tree, crafted from one very large signel board of keyaki. The turtle at bottom left was carved separately and attached at the base of the trunk of the tree.
Niigata Prefecture, dated Taisho 11 (1924).
