Ranma (transom panel)

Beautifully carved scene of Yoshitsune, mounted on his horse, fleeing from the pursuing generals after the Battle of Koromogawa near Kyoto. This is one of the famous episodes found in the Tales of the Heike from the late 12th century.
The carving dates from the Edo Period -- probably 18th century, and probably the Hokuriku Region.
